New in PXS Desktop 1.1
Activity: what your phone is doing, live
PXS 1.1 adds an Activity window. CPU, memory, network and smoothness with two minutes of history, your open windows, and what is warming the phone.
- iPhone & iPad
When a phone runs a whole desktop, you sometimes want to know how it is coping. Activity shows you, once a second.
Four cards
- CPU: PXS’s own work, where 100 % is one core.
- Memory: how much PXS is using, and how much iOS allows it.
- Network: down and up, over Wi-Fi, cellular or a wired connection.
- Smoothness: frames per second, and any hitches.
Each card draws its last two minutes under the number.
The phone, and your windows
Below the cards are tiles for the battery, the temperature, storage and the screen you are connected to. Then every open window, with Show to bring it forward and Close. Web pages run in processes of their own that iOS doesn’t let an app measure, and the list says that instead of guessing.
What warms the phone
A phone doing a computer’s work can get warm, and it helps to know why. Activity lists the causes it can actually see, each with a tip: charging, PXS working hard, several web pages open, AnyScreen streaming, a big download, a very large screen.
Good to know
- Activity only measures while its window is open. Close it and it costs nothing.
- Activity arrives with PXS 1.1, for iPhone and iPad.
