New in PXS Desktop 1.1
Camera: a photo monitor and a document scanner
In PXS 1.1 the phone's camera gets a window on the desktop. Frame a photo on the big screen, or scan paper straight into a PDF.
- iPhone & iPad
Photographers clip an external monitor to their camera to see what they are really shooting. Most of us shoot with a phone, and with PXS that phone is already connected to a big screen. So in PXS 1.1 the camera gets a window.
A monitor for the camera
- The picture as large as the window allows, kept level as the phone turns
- A rule-of-thirds grid, a brightness histogram, and focus peaking, which paints the sharp edges orange
- ISO, shutter speed and aperture as they change
- The phone’s lenses: 0.5×, 1×, tele and front
- A self-timer of 3 or 10 seconds, and flash
- Click anywhere in the picture to focus and expose there
Click the shutter, or press Space or Return. The photo goes to your photo library, or to Files → Camera if PXS isn’t allowed to add to it.
Scan
Switch to Scan and point the phone at a page. PXS draws the page’s edges as it finds them, and each shot is straightened into a flat page. Save PDF puts the pages in one PDF under Files → Scans and opens it in Preview, where Extract Text reads it.
Both modes read QR codes and barcodes, and offer to open or copy what they found.
Good to know
- The camera runs only while a Camera window is on screen. Minimize or close the window and the camera stops.
- The live picture shows on a screen connected by cable, and in AnyScreen Turbo. The other AnyScreen modes can’t carry it, and the window says so.
- Camera arrives with PXS 1.1, for iPhone and iPad.
