New in PXS Desktop 1.1

Preview: mark up, sign and summarize a PDF

PXS 1.1 brings a Preview app to the desktop. Highlight a line, drop in your signature, and let your phone summarize a long document without uploading it.

  • iPhone & iPad

A PDF used to open in a plain viewer. In PXS 1.1 it opens in Preview, where you can do something with it: mark it up, sign it, and get the short version.

Mark Up

Click Mark Up and the tools appear: Select, Pen, Highlighter, Text, Rectangle, Oval, Arrow and Signature, in six colours and three widths. With a mouse you press and drag to draw. On the phone’s touchpad you hold, then drag.

Everything you add is a standard PDF annotation, so the next person sees it in whatever PDF reader they use. The PDF saves itself as you work, and Undo takes back the last change.

Sign

Draw your signature once on the pad. PXS keeps up to four of them on your phone. After that, signing takes two clicks: pick the signature, then click where it goes. Drag it if it didn’t land on the line.

The short version

Summarize gives you the main points of a document, in the document’s own language. Extract Text pulls the words out of a scan or a photo. Both run on your phone, and nothing is uploaded. Copy the result, or Save as Note and it opens in Notes.

Good to know

  • Preview opens images too: Open in Preview in Files, or Mark Up in Photos. The image itself is left as it was, and your marks go into a copy beside it.
  • Summarize uses Apple’s on-device model, so it needs Apple Intelligence turned on (iOS 26 or later). Everything else works without it.
  • A PDF locked with a password can’t be opened yet.
  • Preview arrives with PXS 1.1, for iPhone and iPad.
